Hey all,

Didn't occur to me it has been almost year since my last journal update until I saw the date of my late journal; then again, I don't write much journals anyway (I compensate by uploading more work haha)

So a recap of what I've been up to this year:  I had to take some time off of photography near the beginning of the year to focus on my design career, then when it became stable I started shooting again.  

But when I started shooting again, something happened.  Maybe it was the few months' time off from shooting, but I got a new perspective and focus.  I've decided to be a lot more picky and want to take it to the next level;  instead of shooting anything possible, I aim to shoot less and raise the quality of my shoot by spending more time to prepare it.  I've started involving more people in my shoots to assist behind the scenes, started scouting gorgeous but appropriate locations, and made sure the people I shoot with are just as passionate about it as I am.

The result?  I do have to say, I can definitely see a difference compared to last year's work.  I also started noticing a small shift in my style; it isn't bad or anything, but it's interesting to see the direction I'm heading, and I'm excited to say that I still got plenty of 'unannounced' shoots lined up.  But you'll have to look forward to it )

I know it's early but I've never been the journal type anyway lol XD   So here's my last journal of the year so I don't have to think about updating it and focus on other stuff (like finishing up the photos)  


First off, lots of you already know that I'm back in the states from UK, so it's nothing new.   But I've also been busy working on multiple projects (other than photography),  so I may have been a bit elusive to some of you.   I do apologize for that and will promise plenty of chill time later

Secondly,  since I'm on working on my career, I've been cutting back a lot on my photography work.  And since I still owe photos to many people,  I won't take too many photography project before the end of the year (unless I promised you one like years ago XD)    This is a difficult decision I had to make in order to move on to where I need to be next.  Once that's done, I'll def start taking on more photography projects.    (Don't worry, I still very much love photography so I won't abandon you guys lol)




Lastly, I'm grateful for all the support because that's what keeps me from doing what I love doing!    So here's some samples of my recent photoshoot, please enjoy:

                  


On a side note, I've been real addicted to Uncharted 3 on PS3 (multiplayer), so if you have U3 do add me! (miraclecreator)   It's fun for me because I got the pleasure to play in the same team with some of the top and competitive players in the states.  We're the [i^t] clan, Insomniac Tendency, and we do welcome any individual or clan challenges; team deathmatch, plunder, or team objectives.  

Once again, this to to update everyone who's still reading my journals lol.

It's nice to be back here in the States!  England's been awesome and definitely learned a lot there.  It was quite the culture shock and eye opener for me; not to mention giving me the opportunity to learn some real English lol.  I've missed everyone and it was great to hang out again with those during my gatherings and events!   As for what happened after I came back, I guess I can break them down by cons..


Pre-Dragoncon:
There's only one way to put it I guess; I've been busy catching up many photos work and some freelance design work I got since I was not able to do much while I was in Europe (the job there apparently demanded a lot more of my time than I expected)  So I was keeping myself on the DL for the most part (so I do apologize if I was not able to hang much for lots ppl lol, because I wanted to finish all my work before DragonCon)



DragonCon:
What can I say? This has got to be the best DragonCon I've been to; not because it's this year's DragonCon but how I approached it: with minimum work time and maximum chillaxing time with my friends.   I only did 1 and 1/2 shoots (yes, 1/2)  but in return I got to spend so much time with my friends from design studio, cosplay circle, and other familiar faces I didn't expect to run into.      Well one of the reasons I didn't want to do a lot of shoots was because I still got a lot of work to catch up, I need to stabilize my design career, and since I don't get to spend much time with my studio buddies after graduation, a major hang time was needed.

Another high point of DragonCon was when I was invited to a private party where I didn't expect to see many familiar faces, people I heard of, and those I talked to before but never met in person.   It was very nice of Ljinto (Leonard) to host the part at his place.  It was such a great way to see old faces and meet great new ones, especially when DragonCon can get so chaotic and crazy at times with so many people everywhere.  Unfortunately the party got a bit out of control and people had to leave early, but never the less people had a blast and I can't wait to see those people again!


Pre-AWA:
Well it isn't here yet but I have lots of preparation to take care of; finish up lots of work and settle down at my new place.  So hopefully I can shoot more this AWA but from the looks of it right now, I'll probably be spending quite a bit of time chilling with friends again, which isn't bad thing since I haven't gotten much time to relax for a while now.  If you're going to AWA, be sure to say hi to me if you see me!(I'm distracted easily so I do apologize if I didn't see you first lol)

Well I usually don't like to tease people too much.. ..who am I kidding? Teasing people with photos can be pretty fun right? lol j/k.  Well I'm notifying everyone that I'll be releasing a small video teaser to one of my recent shoots; it's not some major shoot so don't expect anything fancy, I just had the idea of recording some video footage since the setting's pretty awesome (and not to mention a bit rare)   It should be released sometime this week (the week of Sept 12th)  on both my personal fb and my Photography facebook page (www.facebook.com/BennyLeePhoto…)   Here's a clue to the teaser: "Would you kindly" stay tuned for it?

Well I'm still a bit stoked with the DD I got because I didn't think I would get it, but man did I feel like Christmas came early that morning lol; so here it is again.  (Once again, thanks for again all your support! It's what keeps me doing what I enjoy doing and I hope not to disappoint everyone in the future )

This to to update everyone who's still reading my journals lol,

The trip to Europe has been an interesting one, meeting new people, learning new stuff everyday and quite a bit of culture shock as well.  I work 6 days a week from morning to evening so I barely have time to process photos and when I get home I only have a few hours before my body crashes.  But I'm experiencing and seeing a lot of new things here everyday so even though it's only it's only been a month, it seems like I have gone through at least a whole year's worth of events here.


I plan to come back at some point when work's done here and hopefully resume some photo shooting but at the same time start something new; I think it'll be very interesting when I get back with a new pair of fresh eyes and mindset    Can't wait to talk to everyone again!   


Also, I want to thank all the people who's constantly supporting my work, i hope you will keep doing so because that's what gives me the drive to keep doing what I do ^^/
